Everything You Need to Know About Stephen King – The King of Horror

by | Mar 27, 2017 | Youtube | 0 comments

Stephen King is arguably the most prolific author of the last century. He was born in Portland, Maine in 1947, the second son of Donald and Nellie Ruth Pillsbury King. In the fall of 1971, he began teaching high school English classes at Hampden Academy, the public high school in Hampden, Maine. King’s first book, the story of an abused teen girl discovering her dark powers, put the horror author on the map.

In the spring of 1973, Doubleday & Co., accepted the novel Carrie for publication, providing him the means to leave teaching and write full-time. A modern master of horror and suspense, he has written over 54 novels, and nearly 200 short stories since Carrie was first published. Writing in the evenings and on the weekends, he continued to produce short stories and to work on novels. From horror grossouts to intense psychological thrillers and far-out sci-fi romps, there’s a King movie or TV show for everyone.

King is never shy to depart his writing wisdom to all aspiring and existing writers out there. A recent dialogue between Stephen King and George R. R. Martin, King states that the secret to having a huge output is just sitting down and writing a little bit each day. Slowly but surely.

The video below will cover King’s writing career, his personal life and some of the interesting facts you’d find intriguing. If you’re an avid fan of King’s this is probably just icing on the cake information, but have fun nonetheless…
