4 Free Ebooks in Victorian Studies

Having a great objective, I’ll let the site speaks for itself …

“Ohio University Press is pleased to make available electronic versions of these four books in Victorian studies at no cost to the reader. While it is our hope that as a result of reading the books in a downloadable format, readers will be inspired to buy the paper editions of the books, our real goal in providing these e-books to you is to increase your access to our books.”

Jerome Times

Jerome, Arizona was called “the wickedest city in America” by the New York Sun. It was, in fact, one of the wildest of the Wild West boom towns. The “official” history of Jerome has been well documented in many other books. From its humble beginnings as a rough mining camp, to its explosion into a wild, twenty-four hour a day boom town, to its collapse into an almost deserted ghost town – all of this is well known. Its eventual rebirth into an artist colony and global tourist attraction is also common knowledge. However, there is a hidden, little spoken of history that is not a part of the “official” canon. “Jerome Times” offers that version – with a story for every decade of the town’s history.

The Fox

by Arlene Radasky
In THE FOX, a historical novel, Jahna and Lovern’s clan lay in the Roman’s path of destruction. The death of their people is a certainty, unless a bargain is made with the Gods, even if it means a human sacrifice.

Will the trade the Druid Lovern and his visionary wife, Jahna make with the Gods, save their family? Will there be future generations to sing the songs of their dead?

The Alternative (Focused On The Need To Save Humanity)

Gillian Speke of http://www.the-alternative.org.uk/ has a great free ebook about a Green Living campaign directory detailing how to overcome poverty, homelessness, pollution and corruption, and survive global warming; featuring design specifications for new-style affordable housings for homes, commercial buildings, transport and space-craft.

Gillian also has a blog on the above website, together with the rest of the information, including the download link of the full ebook and individual chapters which you download directly. The full ebook is relatively huge I would say, going at 28mb, giving the reason why I think the individual chapters are provided for an alternative downloading method. But hey, don’t let the size stop you from downloading the ebook. It also has a short ebook version, so you might want to get that version if you don’t have the patience on getting the full one. Do take note that this is not the ordinary ebook which you download to read, although it meant to be read, but for me personally it tends to look more like an encyclopedia, or a dictionary, I don’t know probably it looks like that because of the layout.

Anyway, enough with the talking, here are your download links :-
Click here to download the full ebook (28mb)
Click here to download the short ebook (18mb)
or click here to get the chapters individually (top left)
or just click here to visit Gillian’s blog and digest everything at one go.
