The Farseer: Assassin’s Apprentice
by Robin Hobb

Young Fitz is the bastard son of the noble Prince Chivalry, raised in the shadow of the royal court by his father’s gruff stableman. He is treated like an outcast by all the royalty except the devious King Shrewd, who has him sectetly tutored in the arts of the assassin. For in Fitz’s blood runs the magic Skill–and the darker knowledge of a child raised with the stable hounds and rejected by his family. As barbarous raiders ravage the coasts, Fitz is growing to manhood.

Prince Chivalry and King Shrewd? I wont read it just based on the stupid names and lack of imagination.

Read the first one for free. Paid willingly for the others. Good writer – good writing. The plots are complete and interesting, well thought out characters, all very well put together.

I read the first book of this trilogy aloud with my son. It was a most fascinating tale of great profundity that inspired a great deal of discussion & speculation of a fantastic realm of possibility. I was a bit thrown by the names until the adventure began and proved them to be just a title of personality and no more. Anyone turned off by the possibility of ridiculous has unfortunately denied themselves an imaginative & riveting world of magick, old world rituals & herbology, and astral projection. Although as seems commonplace with female authors, I found the plights of puberty exacerbating & in common conflict with the basic personality as was the case with well-known accidental hero of Rowling’s: Harry Potter.
Burdened so heavily at a young age makes the whining & indecision a bit too overdone.

Why has this not been made into a movie or series yet???
